SKIN NUTRITION-GH needed to generate more sales opportunities for its skincare products, particularly its Turmeric Toner.
Rather than creating a conventional product advertisement that simply showed the toner and listed its features, I wanted to make the product feel more relatable by building the creative around realistic skincare concerns and personal experiences.
The campaign therefore focused on communicating the product's advertised skincare benefits while using characters in the video to demonstrate how the product could fit into a customer's skincare routine.
The primary conversion event was Messaging Conversations Started, with the final sales and customer conversion process handled by SKIN NUTRITION-GH.
The skincare market is highly visual and competitive.
Simply showing a bottle of toner and saying that it is good for the skin can easily become another advertisement that people scroll past.
The creative needed to accomplish several things quickly:
- Capture attention immediately.
- Make the audience recognize a skincare concern.
- Introduce the Turmeric Toner as a potential solution.
- Demonstrate how the product is used.
- Communicate its advertised benefits clearly.
- Give the viewer a reason to contact the business.
The challenge was therefore not just selling a skincare product, but turning the product into a story that the target audience could relate to.
I built the campaign around problem awareness + personal experience + product demonstration.
The creative starts by drawing attention to common skincare concerns and then transitions into the Turmeric Toner as the featured solution.
Rather than relying entirely on a narrator or static product shots, the campaign uses characters who tell their own stories and explain how the product has helped them, while some scenes demonstrate the product being used.
This approach gives the advertisement three important layers:
1. Problem
The audience is reminded of common concerns such as sun exposure, dark spots and skin appearance.
2. Solution
The Turmeric Toner is introduced as the product designed to address those concerns according to the campaign's messaging.
3. Demonstration
The audience gets to see the product being used rather than simply hearing about it.
The campaign was optimized for Messaging Conversations Started, allowing interested viewers to move directly from the advertisement into a conversation with the business.
The final sales conversion remained with SKIN NUTRITION-GH.
The creative was designed to feel more like a skincare story than a traditional product commercial.
The opening uses a strong female-led hook where the product is immediately introduced and the character explains why she believes the audience needs it.
From there, the storyline introduces different characters and their experiences with the product.
The use of personal stories makes the creative more relatable, while the product demonstrations provide a visual explanation of how the toner fits into the skincare routine.
The accompanying campaign messaging reinforced the creative by highlighting:
- Sunburn concerns
- Dark spots and discolouration
- Skin softness and moisturization
- Suitability for different skin types
- Delivery availability across Ghana
The CTA then directs interested viewers toward Send Message, creating a direct path from attention to potential purchase.
Campaign Results
The campaign generated:
609 Messaging Conversations
at:
$0.12 Per Messaging Conversation
with a total advertising spend of:
$75.32
| Metric | Result |
|---|
| Messaging Conversations | 609 |
| Cost per Conversation | $0.12 |
| Amount Spent | $75.32 |
| Impressions | 50,399 |
| Reach | 22,651 |
| Frequency | 2.23 |
| Views | 46,609 |
| CPM | $1.49 |
The campaign generated 50,399 impressions from a reach of 22,651 people, meaning the average person reached saw the campaign approximately 2.23 times.
This provided repeated exposure while maintaining a relatively low CPM of $1.49.
Audience Performance
The campaign targeted an age range of 18–65+.
Unlike the GP PHONES campaign, where men generated the majority of the messaging activity, this campaign showed a very strong female response.
Women
Women accounted for approximately:
- 482 messaging conversations
- 79% of total reported conversations
- $0.13 cost per conversation
- $60.85 spend
- 17,955 reach
- 41,460 impressions
This means women represented the clear majority of both the campaign's spend and response.
The female audience also generated approximately 82% of impressions, demonstrating that Meta's delivery heavily concentrated the campaign within this segment.
Men
Men generated:
- 126 messaging conversations
- 21% of total reported conversations
- $0.11 cost per conversation
- $14.30 spend
- 4,416 reach
- 8,817 impressions
Interestingly, although men generated fewer conversations overall, their reported cost per conversation was slightly lower at $0.11, compared with $0.13 for women.
However, the much larger volume of female conversations makes women the strongest audience segment by overall campaign response.
Note: The demographic figures supplied total 608 conversations rather than the overall 609. This is likely due to Meta reporting/rounding or an unclassified segment. I would use 609 as the official headline campaign result.
The major lesson from this campaign was the value of turning a product into a story.
Skincare products are highly personal. Instead of simply presenting the Turmeric Toner as another cosmetic product, the creative connected it to recognizable skincare concerns and allowed characters to tell their experiences while demonstrating the product.
That combination created a more engaging path:
Problem → Story → Product → Demonstration → Action
The campaign also demonstrated the importance of allowing campaign data to reveal audience behaviour.
While the campaign targeted both men and women, women generated approximately 79% of the reported messaging conversations, making them the dominant response segment.
This insight can be used to inform future creative development and audience testing.
Although the campaign generated 609 messaging conversations, there are several areas that could be improved in future iterations.
1. Develop multiple hooks
The female-led opening performed well enough to generate substantial engagement, but future campaigns could test several different hooks.
For example:
Problem-led hook
Start directly with a recognizable skincare concern.
Transformation-led hook
Open with the desired skin outcome before introducing the product.
Product-led hook
Start with the Turmeric Toner immediately and reveal why it is different.
Testing these variations would help identify which opening generates the strongest combination of views, retention and messaging conversations.
2. Build more female-focused variations
The demographic data provides a strong signal.
Women generated approximately 79% of reported conversations and 81% of campaign spend.
Future campaigns could therefore test creative variations specifically designed around female skincare audiences while maintaining a separate broader audience test.
This would allow us to determine whether the stronger female response came primarily from:
- The creative
- The messaging
- The product
- The audience targeting
- Or the combination of all four.
3. Test different benefit angles
The campaign communicated several product benefits.
Future creative variations could isolate individual messaging angles and compare their performance.
For example:
"Fades dark spots"
vs.
"Helps soothe sun-exposed skin"
vs.
"Keeps your skin moisturized"
vs.
"Simple daily skincare routine"
This would reveal which product proposition creates the strongest response.
4. Strengthen the demonstration
The product demonstration could be expanded in future versions.
Rather than only showing the product being used, future creatives could dedicate more screen time to demonstrating:
How → When → Where → How often
the product fits into a skincare routine, provided those instructions are consistent with the product's actual directions.
This could help answer potential customer questions before they even start the conversation.
5. Measure the full conversion funnel
The campaign was optimized for Messaging Conversations, not completed purchases.
Therefore, the 609 conversations should not automatically be interpreted as 609 sales.
The next level of measurement would connect:
609 Conversations → Qualified Leads → Orders → Revenue
That would allow the campaign to be evaluated not only on its advertising efficiency but also on its actual commercial return.
